Joel M. Evans, M.D., a board certified OB/GYN, is the Founder and Director of The Center for Women's Health, where he practices Integrative Obstetrics and Gynecology. A frequent lecturer on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Dr. Evans was recently appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In January of 2001 he was honored as a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine, and is now recognized as the first and only physician in Connecticut to be Board Certified in both Holistic Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In addition to writing the forward for the acclaimed Herbal Medicine, Healing, and Cancer, Dr. Evans helped create a clinical study at Columbia University Medical Center on the use of the herb black cohosh in breast cancer, which was presented at the 2001 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists and later published in their journal. Dr. Evans now plans to use his affiliation with Albert Einstein to acquire grant monies to further study the effectiveness of CAM therapies.

In May 2001, Dr. Evans was appointed by U.S. Congressman Tom DeLay as an Honorary Co-Chairman of the Physicians Advisory Board to U.S. Congress, and he awarded Dr. Evans the National Leadership Award in recognition of outstanding service and commitment as well as assistance and guidance in the area of Health Care Reform.

Dr. Evans is a member of the senior faculty of The Center for Mind/Body Medicine in Washington D.C., which is directed by James S. Gordon, M.D., the immediate past Chairman of the White House Commission of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. Dr. Evans annually teaches health professionals about the medical benefits of relaxation therapies at The Center's basic and advanced training programs. He has a special interest in providing service to those affected by the tragedies of war and terrorism, and continues to actively work with the F.D.N.Y. to help NYC firefighters handle the many stresses caused by 9/11. Dr. Evans also participated in the Center's Mind/Body Mission to Macedonia in 1999, where he traveled to United Nations refugee camps immediately after the NATO bombing to help Kosavar refugees heal their wounds of war.

Dr. Evans is a featured speaker at Center for Mind/Body Medicine meetings across the country. Two "high profile" meetings at which Dr. Evans will be presenting this spring include "Food as Medicine", a week-long program to educate medical school faculty on ways to bring nutrition into medical schools, and "Comprehensive Cancer Care", sponsored jointly with the National Institute of Health, where the latest CAM therapies for cancer will be presented and critiqued by the leaders in conventional cancer care.

Dr. Evans has also just joined the professional educational faculty of Metagenics Inc., the country's leading company committed to advancing health through nutrition, nutritional genomics and nutritional proteomics. He will be lecturing for Metagenics around the country in the fall of 2003 on how nutrition and supplements can profoundly impact women's health through the alteration of estrogen metabolism and biochemistry. Monique Class MS, CS, APRN is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Holistic Health at The Center for Women's Health. In addition to inspiring men and women to implement the lifestyle changes that facilitate wellness and optimal and graceful aging, Monique has a special interest in well woman and adolescent gynecology She received her degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and her post-masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the College of New Rochelle and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from The University of Virginia. In addition to her work at The Center for Women's Health, Monique is an adjunct professor at The College of New Rochelle Graduate School of Nursing and a faculty member of the Center for Mind/Body Medicine in Washington D.C and facilitates Mind-Body Skills Groups at their annual professional and advanced training programs. Monique is also certified by the Psychosynthesis Institute in Imagery and is currently completing her training in Foundations in Herbal Medicine.
Jeffrey Perry, DO, is certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry). He received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his training and served as Chief Resident at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Currently he provides physiatric care for patients of The Hospital for Joint Diseases Spine Center and is Medical Advisor for the Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center. He is also on staff at Pain Diagnostics and Rehabilitation Services in Great Neck, NY. Dr. Perry has appeared on various radio programs and is a frequent lecturer for orthopedic, family practice and neurology board review courses.
Our Office Staff - Debbie and Mary Kate manage the front office and administrative functions. Their commitment to compassionate service is evident in the way they communicate with patients and schedule appointments. Jill and Teresa are in our insurance and accounts payable departments. Our nursing staff includes Daine and Zuleka. We are proud to have them on our team.
